TRAVELING TO OAXACA

TRANSPORTATION
For our American guests traveling to Mexico for the first time, please know that you must have a valid passport at the time of entry. A visa is not required unless you are planning to stay in the country for more than 180 days. If you’d like to learn more, check out travel.state.gov.
Oaxaca City has a local international airport approximately 20-30 min away from the city center. Delta, United and other US airlines offer flights to Oaxaca with layovers typically in Dallas (DFW) or Mexico City (MEX). We also recommend Aeromexico, which offers flights from Mexico City to Oaxaca, and is our preferred airline when flying to and from Mexico.
Once you arrive at Oaxaca’s airport, there are a few options to get to the city center:
-
We recommend arranging a shuttle service with your hotel. This is available at most hotels and the simplest means of travel.
-
Take a taxi. Oaxaca City does not have Uber, but there is a counter at the arrivals terminal where you can speak with an agent and book a ride into the city for a flat fee.
Congrats! Once you’ve arrived in the city center, you no longer need to worry about transportation. Most city attractions and all wedding events are in walking distance. You can stroll the colorful streets of Oaxaca and enjoy all the city has to offer.
ONCE YOU'RE THERE
The wedding ceremony will take place at Hotel Azul, where we will stay with our families and the wedding party. Below are a few hotels we recommend nearby - these are easy walking distance to all wedding events.
AirBnB is also a great option and has plenty of listings in the city center (just be sure that you find a place with air conditioning ;) )
